Council Welcomes $70 million Plasterboard Plant

Mayor of the Bundaberg region, Cr Mal Forman has extended a warm welcome to Knauf, following today’s announcement that the world leading manufacturer of plasterboard and insulation materials has approved the construction of a new $70 million plasterboard factory at the Port of Bundaberg.

Bundaberg Regional Council has been working closely with Knauf and the State Government for more than 15 months to successfully negotiate the construction and operation of this state-of-the-art facility.

Council Supports Government Incentives for Development

A decision by Bundaberg Regional Council to review its infrastructure charges and adopt charges similar to those set under a State Government’s Fair Value Charges Schedule provides a win for the Government, Council and importantly, developers and property buyers across the region.

Council’s Planning and Development portfolio spokesperson, Cr Ross Sommerfeld said the State Government had introduced the Fair Value Charges schedule in a bid to encourage investment and to simplify development charges.
