2016 Youth Hub Dinner a "Great Success"

This year’s showcase event of the Bundaberg Regional Youth Hub, the aptly named dinner - Enterprising Futures: Skills for Future Employment - was once again a great success and tribute to this region’s youth, educators and businesses.

Ably co-ordinated by the Hub’s Vocational Project Officer, Alana Sinnamon, the evening saw about 80 participants enjoy an evening of fine dining and informative presentations on issues affecting our region’s youth and their pathways into employment from school.

Cr David Batt welcomed guests on behalf of Bundaberg Regional Council.

Regional Economic Growth Forum

The Regional Economic Growth Forum held on 6 October 2016 at the Brolga Theatre in Maryborough was again successful in gaining widespread interest, with over 190 registrations.  There was lots of positive feedback about the forum on the day.

Queens Wharf Opportunities Abound

Star Group says "Wide Bay businesses well within striking range"

Amongst the presenters at last week's Regional Economic Development Growth Forum, representatives of The Star Entertainment Group spoke of the wide range of opportunities for local Wide Bay Burnett producers to supply the Queens Wharf project.

Queens Wharf Brisbane is the biggest infrastructure project to ever be undertaken in the State's capital. The Star Entertainment Group, which won the development rights from the State, along with Hong Kong-based partners Far East Consortium and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, spoke of the many procurement opportunities available for regional suppliers into this integrated resort development, to be constructed on the Brisbane CBD riverside between 2017 and 2022.

New $14.9M Funding Boost for Farm and Food Economies

Here is an opportunity to boost economic returns in Australia’s rural and regional farming and food sectors.

The $14.9m Farming Together program launched two weeks ago is a nation-wide campaign for primary producers and processors to collaborate and claim marketplace power.

Federal funding will help agricultural groups value-add, secure premium pricing, scale-up production, attract capital investment, earn new markets or secure lower input costs.

New Funding for Incubators under the National Innovation and Science Agenda

The Incubator Support initiative provides funding to incubators to improve the prospects of Australian start-ups in international markets. Information sessions will be held across Queensland (including Bundaberg) during October 2016 and will provide an overview of the initiative, including eligibility and merit criteria, available funding and details on how to apply.
